I agree with AU-58. Signs of slight circulation.
Rest in Peace

All 4 diamonds are super sharp.

Hard to photograph all 4 because of angle.

I put it in a 2x2 already.

For those claiming the "wear" on the Feathers.

I challenge you to actually look on ebay at the countless ms62 graded indians.

I guarantee you would mistake these for au all day long with this mindset.

You will see it is quite common-strike weakness.

I bet you'll learn something new today.

I could see an argument for AU58-MS62. Also leaning towards AU, based more so on the reverse. Appears to have light breaks in luster at the high points, also visible at high points of the feathers. Yes, there's is some strike weakness visible on the first few feathers, but also looks like it's seen some light circulation. That said, there are plenty of slabbed low MS coins with similar characteristics. AU58 with a shot at low MS
Rest in Peace

Ok , we have a good debate going here . While Numismatics FTW is defending his coin , I and a few others are challenging his high remarks on this IHC . I can see now that the 4 diamonds are there with different angle viewing . But I'm still seeing light wear on some feather tips as well as hair curls which brings me back to AU-58 and maybe add a + mark .

The luster disturbances on the cheek and obverse left field make me think that this is not a MS Indian in my opinion
My grade would be AU55.
Would really like to see pictures that show the luster because it looks off a bit.

Yes, these are worn dies. The reverse has die swelling at K2-K3, cracks at K4 and K9, denticles are a bit weak.

This coin could very well be high AU.

I don't specialize in Indian Heads.

At the same time though I notice remarks dismissing it from MS that I see a fallacy in.

Here's an examples of an ms62 coin.

With the same mindset of issues dismissing my coin, this one would also be dismissed from MS.

I am trying to learn how to grade these and the nuances.

I'm with the AU-58 crowd. Luster in the left obverse field appears disrupted from friction. Compare the appearance of the field above the first 4 feathers. Luster in that area appears undisturbed.

Just my opinion based on these photos, of course. Doesn't mean it can't get an MS grade from a grading service.
