Despite how much us collectors complain of the premium the US Mint sells its products, there are always some that we still like getting. To me the main benefit of getting new issues is a)authenticity, b) clear return/exchange/refund policies and c) you can get a reall stunner occasionally or just a beautifully designed coin fresh from the Mint before it may be damaged by poor storage, smoke, and other factors when buying second-hand. But one has to shop carefully! For me here is what I plan to get from the US Mint: 1) One silver proof set, 1 - 2 Mint sets 2) Peace dollar proof and unc 3) AI dollars - proof (1), rev proof (1), and business strikes (I plan to spend about $55 - 65 per issues to search for the best I can get, if money gets tight I will try secondary sellers but so far I have gotten far inferior coins from them than when I chose one) 4) MAYBE a Burnished Unc ASE and one commemorative but it is a big MAYBE. ASide from the US Mint offerings, will continue to add to my Uncirculated WLBs and get Liberty Seated half-dime or quarter proof. If funds allow a small gold coin from one of the countries that were produced by the Franklin Mint for them (the Belize $100 gold coins are delightful and run not far from spot). Will also get 1 - 4 World bullion coins (silver likely). I may also decide to simply devote my acquisition to a $3 gold piece this year. They aren't cheap! But quite fascinating. I also collect stamps so I am finding it is a challenge to go after items both from stamps and coins! *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

The silver proof set, for sure. They are such beautiful coins!
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

None. No matter what Mint, I really only consider NCLT at reduced prices on the numismatic after market, sometimes many years after initial marketing release.
Only a very few new issue NCLT items do well after initial release. One of those few exceptions is the 2009 Double Eagle.

Nothing - in that regard I'm with sel_69l.
I gave up acquiring NCLT from the US Mint years ago when it became obvious that by waiting a short while post release the vast majority of the items were less expensive in the resale market.
To each their own and I understand and appreciate the points coinnewcomer makes.

Nothing. I don't collect anything dated after 1964.

Maybe 3 Proof Morgan dollars. I'm still on the fence about this, as I discovered last year that the U.S. Mint uses UPS to ship to Canada and it's not cheap. If I lived in the U.S. maybe I'd be buying more things. Then again, I haven't purchased anything from the RCM in the past couple years.

All the annual sets... uncirculated, clad proof, silver proof full sets; Innovation dollar proof and reverse proof sets.
Not sure what else. I doubt I will get Morgan or Peace. I have one each from 2021, which is all I need for my extended type set. Will have to see what commemorative coins they will issue.

I've signed up for 11 types of coins but actually only nine are for me. For me: Unc, Proof, Silver Proof, AI Proof, and AI Rev-Proof sets. Also signed up for the P/D/S Women Quarters. The remaining 5 subscriptions are for the Peace and Morgan releases. I only want the three Peace dollars, but a buddy who likes both, and has nothing to do with the internet, asked me to buy the Peace and Morgans for him. So....that means two each of the Peace Unc and Proof, two of the Morgan/Peace Rev-Proof, and one each of the Morgan Unc and Proof releases. I will buy the P/D/& Proof American Indian dollars and the P/D/Proof/& Silver Proof Kennedy halves from ebay as single coins to put in folders.

Annual sets: UNC, Proof, Silver Proof, Innovation, RP Innovation
All ASEs
All Peace offerings
I'll consider commemoratives, but doubt I'll get any unless they are particularly interesting to me.

I foresee my '23 purchases being very similar to my '22 purchases: • Annual sets (proof, Ag proof, Unc) • All ASE offerings • AI proof set • AI RP set I did set up enrollments for one each of the potential Morgan products. Not sure I will follow through with them. Might also get the '23 American Liberty medal. Happy to keep my spending down these days.

Quote: Happy to keep my spending down these days. My focus for 2023 is going to be those last four Dansco holes I need to fill. Not buying a lot from the Mint will help with that endeavour.
