Looks like they are not available right now. Wonder if people are buying them faster than the mint cant mint them? Or if the ones they had minted so far are just out? US Mint link

I speculated in another thread that I think that the Mint struck the Native American dollars first (early in the year, to get their mandated 20% of annual Dollar coin production 'out of the way'), and will now strike Presidential dollars for the rest of the year *unless mintage of 2009 Pres. Dollars increases to the point where more Sac. N.A. Dollars have to be minted to meet the 20% mandate. You see, at the Denver Mint Gift Shop, you can get the current business strike Dollars and Quarters at face value, starting the day of their release. From Jan. 5th to Feb. 18th, they had the Native American dollars. On Feb. 19th, they had the Harrison Presidential dollars. It doesn't take any 'detective work' to figure out which coin issue is currently being struck there.... Naturally, smart collectors and dealers were grabbing up the Direct Ship Rolls, since after all they are the same business strike coins as sold in the Mint Rolls for a premium! If I'm right and the 2009 N.A. Dollars are now 'out of production', there might not be any more Direct Ship Rolls of them. The rest of them may have gone off to the Fed, except for the 'Mint Roll' allocation. The funny thing is, if you were really interested in spending the coins (as the Direct Ship program intends!), it wouldn't matter which Dollar coins you got. I was washing my car with N.A. Dollars in January, and now I'm washing it with Harrison Dollars.....

If you're using them, it doesn't matter. And DNA, how often do you wash your car? It seems about every post you make you talk about washing your car!

I prefer spending these coins rather than using bills. I enjoy watching a cashier's face when I give them a few dollar coins.
Unfortunately, I still cannot find any Sac's at my bank. To date I checked 10 different branches and none of them have the new Sac's.

Well, the car wash is my number one use for Dollar coins, although actually the downtown parking meters may be the 'best' use, because the meters don't take bills and unlike the car wash you don't have a bill changer a few steps away... We get some posts saying that the Dollar coins aren't good for anything, so it seems like I'm the one who has to point out how they can be put to good uses.... To answer wd1040's question : Daily Driver = Once a week, more often on summer 'road trips' Collector Car (big tailfinned 'boat') = Every day it's driven (approx. once/twice a month, more in summer) If I'd figured out the Mint's possible production plan earlier, I would have set aside a few Native American dollars for the members of this forum instead of spending them all... (especially with the Direct Ship N.A. Dollars becoming "Not Available" ).

Well, I already have my two rolls P & D of these 2009 Native Dollars...... I fear my bank won't order any because I know they have thousands of dollars worth of the old Sac's still....

I asked my folks in New England to get one of these and some president dollars for me and basically they were told they are not getting any new dollar coins in because they already have alot of the older ones they can't get rid of.

My nearest Wells Fargo has the new Harrison rolls, and the manager even told me that they order new Presidential dollars 'for the collectors'! My favorite lead teller there keeps BU rolls of every President from Washington to Harrison in her drawer, specifically to keep 'collector' customers happy . However, she didn't even know that the 2009 Sac N.A.'s existed until a young collector showed her one that he got from me. Since her manager didn't think that 'collectors' wanted those (because they're not Presidential Dollars!), he didn't order any... The Denver Light Rail system's ticket dispensers give Dollar coins for Dollar amount change exclusively (ie: if you buy a $2 ticket with a $20 bill, you'll get eighteen Dollar coins back!). They do dispense millions of Dollar coins every year. Inevitably, some of the 2009-D Sac N.A.'s at the Denver branch of the Fed will be showing up in Light Rail change shortly (if not already).
