I have been documenting and following this group of "Morgan" Morgan $ fakes; the 1st seen cert number was of a genuine example but after reporting that cert was nuked:  They then used two other cert numbers but for other genuine type coins.   The latest is this recent posting; seller ended the auctions but it is a real jungle out there!

"Locks only keep honest people honest." Sure, we could use better "locks," but they will never be 100% effective. If someone really wants in, they will find a way. This is a reminder that our own vigilance will always be necessary. Jack is fighting the good fight!

Any pre-1921 label that has "Morgan" on it like that is automatically a fake.

Yes, thanks for the diligence. I have, and do, buy graded coins from sellers on ebay. The very first thing, before bidding, is whether or not they accept returns followed by a check of the number with it's grading firm. When the coin arrives I immediately look at the edges of the encapsulation for signs of tampering then compare the plastic to another ensuring exactness in size and design.

Another tip, doesn't always work but something in your "wall of defense", is check the barcode with a free QR reader. In the above examples, even the crappy HA image is readable, the fake is not, and you can clearly see just by looking that the fake barcode doesn't match.

If a PCGS coin is reholdered will the cert number change or be the same?

Good point kbbpll; I actually use one and many of the best counterfeit holders scan; the one above did not...  jimbucks, yes, new cert number; I report these on PCGS' CU page and they have stated that as they deactivate certs.

The ebay listing above has the same reverse CC die that has been around for over 5 years that comes out of China with the scratch on the eagle's breast and bump above the D in dollar.

Thank you Slider23; I saw your link to that discussion and matched these "latest" ones to those as you stated.  The mintmark also doesn't look to match the known 1881-CC Vams either...
