2024 United States Mint Proof Set Available March 14
2024, March 14

US Mint - The 2024 United States Mint Proof Set will be available for purchase starting on March 14th at noon EDT. The set includes the third series of five coins in the American Women Quarters™ Program, the four-year initiative celebrating the accomplishments and contributions of women who have shaped our Nation's history.

2024-United-States-Mint-Proof-Set-Available-March-14

The following 10 proof coins from the United States Mint at San Francisco are included in this year's set:

Five 2024 American Women Quarters With Reverse (Tails) Designs Honoring:

Reverend Dr. Pauli Murray—poet, writer, activist, lawyer, and Episcopal priest.
Honorable Patsy Takemoto Mink—the first woman of color to serve in Congress and a champion of many causes, including Title IX legislation.
Dr. Mary Edwards Walker—Civil War-era surgeon, and women's rights and dress-reform advocate.
Celia Cruz—Cuban-American singer, cultural icon, and one of the most popular Latin artists of the 20th century.
Zitkala-Ša—also known as Gertrude Simmons Bonnin—a writer, composer, educator, and political activist for Native American rights and citizenship in the early 20th century.

Each coin in the American Women Quarters™ Program features a common obverse (heads) design depicting a portrait of George Washington. The design was originally composed and sculpted by Laura Gardin Fraser as a candidate entry for the 1932 quarter, which honored the bicentennial of George Washington's birth. Inscriptions are "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and "2024."

One Native American $1 Coin with a reverse design that recognizes the Indian Citizenship Act of 1924. The design features an eagle staff, an American Indian symbol of respect, honor, and patriotism, together with an American flag to represent the dual citizenship of Native Americans. Inscriptions are "United States of America," "$1," and "Indian Citizenship Act of 1924." The obverse, by sculptor Glenna Goodacre, continues to feature a portrait of the central figure "Sacagawea" carrying her infant son, Jean-Baptiste. Inscriptions are "LIBERTY" and "IN GOD WE TRUST." The coins continue to retain their distinctive edge lettering and golden color. The year of minting, mint mark, and inscription "E PLURIBUS UNUM" are incused on the edge of the coin.

One Kennedy half dollar
One Roosevelt dime
One Jefferson nickel, and
One Lincoln Penny.

I will pass on this one again this year. The cent, nickel, and dollar are duplicates from the silver set. Much easier to buy the quarter set (which I did) and get then clad half dollar & dime from a third party.

I only have a select few OGP sets. The Prestige sets from my mother; and some xxx9 sets for my birth year (1969) and ten year anniversaries.

The COA for the 2024 proof set has two errors:

1) The description of the Dollar's Reverse is " American Indians in Ballet". That was the description of the 2023 Dollar which featured Maria Tallchief. The correct description of the 2024 Dollar's Reverse should be "Indian Citizenship Act of 1924."

2) The COA attributes the design of the Dollar to Ben Sowards. According to the USM press release for the coin, the 2024 Native American $1 Coin reverse was "designed and sculpted by Phebe Hemphill. . ." Source: https://www.usmint.gov/news/press-r...%20Americans.

I suppose the Mint will have new COA's printed and mailed out. Would be cheaper to hire a better proofreader. . .

I reported the errors to the Mint. Received an automated response. . .if I get anything akin to a humanoid response, I will post it here.

PS: The Women's Quarters are stunning. Look forward to seeing them in the Silver Proof versions.

They'll probably blame COVID for the poor quality control. The people that handle the packaging info are probably still working from home, like 50% of the federal government employees

Received a response to my email from "USMint-support@usmcatalog.com" . It was a cut and paste boilerplate form response advising I could return the item. Did not address the COA issue.
Note included a Salutation ( Dear. . . . ) wherein they misspelled my last name. . .

Has anyone else received a "Your Order Has Been Delayed" email from the U.S. Mint for the proof set? According to the Tracking Number, my set has gotten hung up in Memphis.
It was accepted at the USPS Regional Origin Facility of the Memphis Mail Processing Annex on March 14 - and is still there as of this morning (March 20).

Please tell me the U.S. Mint didn't put a hold on my set because of the errors on the COA...
