Please explain to us, in detail, why you think this might be a counterfeit.

To my eye its a beautiful looking coin, although I have no expertise on the topic. What are you seeing that makes you doubt the authenticity?
Take a look at my other hobby ... http://www.jk-dk.art

I am sure many here have heard of Peter Rosa, master coin "Copy" maker from Ancients through Colonials. His examples were made from copying genuine coins, many from the British Museum. His nephew Charles Doyle continues the business @ coinreplicas.com and uses many of the original molds to manufacture current copies (now lead free). In discussions with him he explained "Peter used scrap typesetters Linotype to cast the coins and then sent them out to be copper plated. The composition of Linotype is lead, antimony, and tin; the copper portion is all from the plating". Note, antimony is used to increase the hardness of alloys such as for lead batteries. And per Charles' note the following pictures are of one of Peter's cast Rosa pennies; I quickly accepted the offer to purchase it.

On the last one I think I see evidence of a casting port (sprue?) on the rim at 5:00 7:00 and 11:00. Is there?
Edit - oops fixed

Yes, the 2nd example is a vintage cast Peter Rosa example.

You seem to know more about this subject than the rest of us combined. There must be some place to get this examined by experts!

Hoping for some thoughts from the Colonial big hitters in this forum like "oldgrouchy"!

rosas are a bit outside my wheelhouse but I can share a couple things on that series of coins. I think their manufacturing is interesting. the blanks were heated prior to striking to soften the metal. they were low weight compared to their British counterparts and were widely rejected. they were underweight because Wood had to try and make up for something like a £10k payment for the rights to make the things. I think they had a 14(?) year contract but only made them for 2 years before stopping production due to their widespread rejection. maybe oldgrouchyguy will chime in. he has a lot to say about cast counterfeits.

In Oldgrouchyguy's post on the "cast Nova" he stated that "the base coin seems pretty much to be the same color as a Rosa Americana issue". Well, my Rosa looks more like its copper sister Hibernia issue! He also mentioned "bifurcated lettering" which is an interesting strike anomaly also seen in my Rosa; initially thought a possible die state Syd only noted perfect dies for this variety, Martin 2.7-Eb.3 with the double cut "A" of GRATIA. Image on the right is a known genuine example: I nicknamed mine the "broken ER"...

The 2nd link is the same variety. Thanks kbbpll! Similar strike but not a direct match. Here is a direct match from Syd Martin's collection though: Note the similar "blobs" (for better terminology) of metal between mine and Syd's:

I think the OP may have answered his own question. Thread is a bit confusing to follow, does it appear the OP TPG coin is a fake?

Thanks jimbucks; I was hoping for other opinions but I believe I do know the answer to the question if mine is counterfeit. Thanks for the clarification...
