just started stacking silver bullion, glad I found this forum, just reading some of your threads has answered a lot of questions. Any way I am already retired and am well placed in 401 and IRA funds and thought I would round out my portfolio with precious metals. I like the idea of bullion, 1 and 10 ounce rounds and bars, rather then coins that have a numismatic value that can be subject to opinions of condition(same with collectable guns). So far have collected 50 ounces with a goal of 300 in the 23-24 price range. I like JM Bullion, a local coin shop and a gun dealer that will take guns in trade for silver.

Kennedy759, other reputable online dealers are Monument Metals and SilverGold Bull. Always look for weekly sales and "deals."

Welcome to CCF! I like SD Bullion, Bullion Exchanges, Hero Bullion, Liberty Coin, my local coin store but I mostly watch sales and buy then. There are fake coins and fake rounds/bars out there so it's wise to buy from reputable dealers!!! My financial advisor thinks people should have about 5-10% of assets in precious metals but you'll get lots of opinions about that. I enjoy watching Youtube channels about silver and gold stacking. However there are some extreme views on Youtube, from saying silver/gold is a bad investment, don't buy any, to some saying buy only physical silver/gold because the banks are going to fail and fiat money will be worth nothing. So decide for yourself and enjoy stacking. A couple Youtube channels I like are Silver Seeker and Yankee Stacking. Yankee Stacking just posted a video of touring the SD Bullion facilities. It was fun to watch. I like bullion bars/generic rounds, 90% silver USA circulated coins, Britannia, Canada Maple leafs, etc. The security features on the newer Britannia and Maple Leafs are really cool.

Yes, and MoneyMetals. There are a lot of opinions on what might be worthwhile, but for bullion perhaps the government issued coins would be first choice due to more liquidity (acceptance when selling or bartering) and paying attention to the premiums such as the silver eagles are becoming less like bullion stacking with the high premium perhaps vs others offered by canada, uk etc. Suggestions are also to buy over time at same regular intervals rather than all at once since prices will average out so you dont end up buying too high or low. Below that perhaps generic silver rounds preferably with security features like sunshine mint would be safer. If you happen to feel comfortable direct selling to others such as on ebay, you can also speculate with collectible coins, these have higher premiums initially but can go up much higher although this requires some guessing as to what design/character will have higher demand over time combined with lower supply such as a limited issue.

thank you for your suggestions, I have been using JM Bullion mainly because of free shipping over $199 and weekly sales, seems like most of the other sellers have free shipping over $300, do any of the above suggested dealers have free shipping lower then $199?

Some stackers have large accumulations. If your intention is the same, perhaps buying larger bars or larger bullion coins is the way to go, because the premiums per ounce are less.
Bullion dealers buy back, but more strictly based on the spot price and will not refund any premium paid for for bullion bought as smaller items.
Smaller coin form bullion premiums are more easily recovered by trading amongst the stackers themselves, because there is some degree of numismatic involvement.

SD Bullion is free shipping over $199, Bullion Exchanges free shipping over just $99. But in my opinion it's just as or more important to buy during sales and compare prices of the same item. The major dealers sell on their online sites and also have ebay stores. Sometimes their prices are cheaper on ebay. Be careful buying from unknown to you private sources, they may be really cheap but they can be selling fakes.

I have had the greatest success in building my stack (as well as purchasing numismatics) at a very reasonable price by establishing a symbiotic relationship with my local (an hour away) LCS.

If you want to get excited about precious metals look up "all star charts" or "the compound " both have analysts that I have followed for a while .One is on CNBC regularly. JC Parets believes gold and silver are about to do a major breakout from a huge base ,I am not going to mention where he thinks gold and silver are going but it is big . Not sure if I can post links so I put enough info here to do your own research.

SD Bullion offers military discount. You pay the cheapest price such a if you buy 1 ASE, you pay the price as if you buy 500. I just had to fax my DD214. I just log in and all the prices are set at the lowest price.

I have found the best deals at coin shows generally. Their prices are better than the LCS and you don't have to pay sales tax (here it's 5.5%). Also, you can cash and carry without paying shipping charges or waiting compared to buying online through some dealers. Just wish there were more coin shows on a regular basis within a reasonable driving distance.
