I would appreciate your grading estimates for this 1786 'Vermontensium' variety landscape copper, variety RR-8. Grading is made difficult by the fact planchet quality is often low for this variety: (text describing this variety form a Stacks&Bowers auction of an RR-8 example): "RR-8 is the scarcest of the 1786-dated Landscape varieties in the Vermont copper series. As Carlotto (1993) states: "Planchet quality seems to the worst of the year also. Laminated planchets are more prevalent in this variety than [for the] two others of this type." I am curious to see what your grading estimates are. Thanks!

I have seen XF 40 that looks pretty close to your coin. So I would say at least fine and better to XF.

SaturnD51, thank you very much for your comment.
That is quite a spread in grading (Fine to XF). That is also the problem that I have grading Colonial coppers, particularly those with low planchet quality such as these.

@ GERMANICVS: This coin was only in 1785 and 1786. IMHO is one of the most scarce coin of Vermont among the 12 different Dies Designs use..
The coin show a big circulation which erase many details of the design. What grade? Those coins if you go the assign by the Stanton scale of the pre or modern coins do not fit. Those coins must be graded in relations with other coins discovered. Then you can assign a really grade.
I like your 1 digit from the date Doubling. For me it is a decent coin which show at least half of the original design, so if I look for this I will say it is around 50 of the grade of those coins.

I live about 40 miles from the Bennington Museum in which they have the only complete set of Vermont coppers known to exist. It consist of 35 or 40 different die variations/types. I was there last fall on other business so I couldn't spend nearly enough time drooling on that exhibit. They are mostly uncirculated. I will be going again soon a plan on taking some detailed pictures.
