I am at a point where I have cherry picked uncleaned, high grade, clean fields and unblemished faces and it's been a fun hunt. But the remaining missing Morgan's are now really expensive in high grades. To continue the series in these conditions is unrealistic. Now they would be in the thousands for each coin and I don't have that kind of cash.I miss the excitement of continuing acquiring missing examples I need.So the hunt will continue in lower grade missing coins.
I have hit a wall in my collection such as 96-S,1899-S1901-P,1902-S,1903-S1904-S to name a few.I now am moving forward with lower grade Morgan's to continue my enjoyment of missing coin accomplishments.
Have you ever reached this point collecting the Morgan series!
They will fill my book such as a lower grade 1916-D Mercury dime will because you don't have one.Ha!Ha!

I absolutely have. I have a date set and I am working on a complete set. My goal is to not spend more than $400-$500 per coin, as long as that is feasible. I know some date/mm it won't be. I think it is just as fun hunting for really original and nice circulated examples as well!

I collected about 40 PL or DMPL Morgan dates and mint marks in MS64 or higher. I hit both the rarity and financial wall at the same time. The remaining dates were extremely hard to find and expensive.

In many of my sets I have to accept a lower grade than I intended to when I started the collection.
I just cannot afford to buy my initial intended grade for certain sets.

Heck, there are some coins I can only afford in DETAILS grade.
And some not even then.

I am in the same situation. Just a handful of holes in the album that are expensive. I'd rather have other coins so I moved on from the series.

Have been in the same situation as well.

Simple solution - KEEP cherry picking the Morgans that will upgrade....and....trade UP! (or sell) for the flavors that you need to complete your set.

Knowledge AND experience is power.

I collect early date large cents. For me a HIGH grade is a F-12 and I don't have many of those.
