Hi all,

I see an image on this dime, but I am not sure what it could be. Any ideas?

A lot of newer coins have this kind of dull finish areas on them , it is just some grease on the die, very common and holds no extra value. Some are very extreme. I have kept a couple for conversation pieces.

Are you referring to the indentations on the neck, or the corner shaped indentation on the jaw? Or both? I agree with the others that grease is likely the cause for the neck. The jaw could be some kind of post mint damage ( PMD). Full photos of front and back would help.

Short of better images, I'm thinking Pareidolia.

Uncertain due to pics, but subtle die clash possibly? Maybe an overlay could confirm/rule that possibility out.

Thanks for all the feedback. These are the best pics I could take as the image is VERY light. I saw something similar on another 2022 dime, although not as extensive. I agree that it is probably common on newly minted coins. I will keep for learning. Thank god I am not psychotic...

I suffer from Pareidolia!....when looking for coin errors. I have collected coins my entire life but just began to search
my collection for errors. I liken it to being a "Coin Detective" in that I need to do my research first, and of course
ask questions!!

Well you have come to the right place to learn. Take a look at the top of the menu to see where areas for CoopHome links:

You can click on there and start at the last page to see the titles of things covered with thousands of images and explanations on past threads and help train your eyes to know what they are looking at. (or what to look for when searching your coins) I add more information sometimes daily. So enjoy these and help train your eyes as what they are looking at.
