Had me perplexed at first - super lightweight (it is aluminum) and before clearing off some of the muck, I swore it was a supersized Mercury. It is about the size of a quarter.

French Reunion 2 Francs. Not worth much but a super interesting find for my neck of the woods.

Nice find, DOCC!
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Interesting foreign find.

We've had a mild winter in SE Wisconsin allowing me to get out a number of times in 2023. In the 40s tomorrow and I hope all the snow is melted by Tuesday when I can get out again.

Went to HS in Lake Geneva :-) Folks live in Chicago, I'm visiting in mid-April and def bringing the gear. Their house is 110 years old and never been swung.

Under the big pines is my winter go to. The only thing really visible on this was the Mercury-style Wing so, at first glance, my response was HUH.

Nice find! Looks like you'll have to go a few days without detecting. Dang snow!
