Had a total of 15 finds, which is on the lighter side, in terms of total number of finds, but did have decent quality overall. I define a find as something from the 50's and earlier, or a 2009, or a proof, or an interesting foreign coin. I'm too lazy to check for varieties, unless it's the 3-legged Buffalo. I found my first ever silver War Nickel, which was really cool. I didn't even see the edge when I scanned the roll. I believe it was obverse facing, so I saw the 1943 first, and verified it with the big S on the reverse. Granted 1943-S is a common, but it was still the first one I've ever found or seen in person. I also found a 1939-S, which is a key date. I've found 1939-P's before, but this is the first time I've found it with a mint mark. Aside from that, nothing too exciting, but it was fun. Cheers!

Always fun to search nickel rolls. I've found four or five War Nickels the last few years in rolls, and they never stood out when scanning the edge of a mixed year roll--at least those examples didn't. Had to look at all the coins to find 'em.

NIce. I suspect you'll find several more War Nickels before your next 39-S.

Thanks, all! I hunted another nickel box tonight. Had more finds, a total of 21, but the quality was not as good. I did find a 2009 in the very first roll, so that was good. I'm giving that to one of my daughters, but the other one got jealous, LOL! And then just a 1948-S semi-key date. But, all in all, 3 album fillers, so that's not so bad. Just need 24 more fillers for my spreadsheet, I mean, album

Okay, I couldn't help myself and hunted half of the new box tonight. After finding only a 1957 in the first 10 rolls, I was ready to call it a dud/skunk box, but then a 1936 Buffalo nickel popped up right in front of me. I actually saw the reverse first, with the buffalo staring right back at me. So it wasn't a total loss, even though there were only 7 finds in the first 25 rolls (8 if you count a 1984 Canadian). But then again, I filled 3 more album slots with just those 7 finds, so that was pretty cool. Now I have 21 slots left to fill for my pre-1960 Jefferson album/spreadsheet. Here's what I'm missing, mostly key dates, semi-key dates, and War Nickels. Not sure why I haven't found a 1940-D, 1946-D or 1953-D yet, especially since my area is covered by the Denver mint. The hunt goes on.

I searched through the rest of the box and 6 other bank rolls. Found another (dateless) Buffalo nickel in the box that's pretty beat up, but a Buffalo, nonetheless. Also found a 1938 with no mint mark; not a key date, but still my very first 1938. Also found a couple other album fillers. So now I'm down from 24 to 21 to 19 open holes; making some progress. Cheers!

I searched a box of nickels last night. No buffalo,no war,no 2009. Only 1 30, 3. 40, 5 50. A bad box all around. But that's way they call it hunting.
