Hello all ! I'm new to this forum but I've been keeping an eye on it for quite some time now. My father actually got me into coins when I was younger, but it seemed to slip away throughout the years and I'm just now picking it up again about 25 years later. I love it as a hobby and I love trying to discover new things in errors in these coins. I look forward to getting to know you all better! I do have a question, I have a set of proof coins from 1956 to 1967. They are all in sequential order. Would I be better off selling them as a set? Or each individually? I appreciate all help and comments! Thank you ahead of time.

Diehard fan, condition will be the key to your answer. Are there any cameos? Some of the coins during that period, especially the Washington quarters and Franklin/Kennedy halves are quite collectible and at times valuable. In Addition, the 1964 Kennedy may be an accent hair variety and 1956 Franklin type 1 or2. Cameos in particular are in high demand. Interested to see pictures!

Well so far, you are only showing a few proof (no cameo) Roosevelt dimes in 2x2's. are your 'sets' complete (cent, nickel, dime, quarter, and Halves) or is it just the dimes?

Technical issue - no proofs were minted 1965-1967, only Special Mint Sets.

If your only intent is to sell, individual sales will net you the most money at the expense of being a PITA.

The dimes are from my dad's collection. I will post more pics. I took them to a coin store and they verified that they are all proofs. I only have the dimes. Thanks so much for your answers!

Does he have a double ear and is it just me or does it look like the reverse is showing through the obverse? On the 1956. Also the 1964. I have weighed three times and it weighs 2.6 g. I did take it out of the packaging finally and it is a cameo. These were my grandpa's coins. He has written on the covering that it is a proof. I did take it into a coin shop and they concurred as well but I see doubling on the coin. Can you have a proof coin with doubling? I know it would be an error and forgive my ignorance, but I'm still very new to this. Thank you. Also why does one proof coin look super shiny and another proof coin looks more dull? I have a 1959 proof that looks like the entire thing is a cameo? IDK. Any suggestions to this?

That 1964 is an odd looking proof with that texture on his face.

Quote: Also why does one proof coin look super shiny and another proof coin looks more dull? This could be from the holders as residue from the plastic will leach on to the coins. I like to use acetone to remove any residues. You can look up more information for this on this site.

Yeah first thing I would do is take those nice proofs out of the 2x2 holders and buy some 2x2 plastic holders to put them in. They will store better and look a lot better. I am just not a fan of cardboard 2x2 s.
