After reading up on a Coin World article (2017) by Will Brooks and corresponding with Will, I have a better understanding on how these varieties are created. There are different types of die polishing used and I think we are most familiar with field polishing meant to extend die life but these trails are not created by such polishing. These trails are created by device polishing and this happens before the die is put in use. There is a neat widening and distorting effect on EPU in addition to the trails. I picked this coin up recently for $5. Thanks for looking.

Very cool trails! I like the more extreme ones like this. They show on EPU, the finials and the columns too.

Searching errors on VV, Coppercoins etc. I had no idea what those terms were.
