excuse my photography, but its so shiny it reflects the camera, anyway just picked this up, I think franklins are kind of ugly, but when I see one like this I see the real beauty of the coin

I think the dark splotch is a reflection of something. You can kind of see a dark spot in pretty much the same place on the reverse.

I've always heard people say they are ugly. Personally I like them in ms or proof. To me it's a classic and simple design. Circulated they are ugly. Dull and gray and generally not sharply struck. So is lithe circulated Peace dollar imho.
