Looking for advice on this potential error/damage at Lincoln's shoulder/chest area, it's an otherwise good condition coin. Any ideas would be appreciated.
It is definitely some kind of corrosive substance. Even if you try to get it off it'll leave a bad stain showing that something was there. Shame it's a nice looking 13
Just for fun, suggest giving the coin a long soak in 100% acetone. Might remove or reduce that curious feature. Learning what acetone can do (and not do) is part of the numismatic journey.
