1976 Kennedy Half Dollar Weirdness.

HeavyHog Valued Member United States 59 Posts	Posted 04/24/2023 10:24 am Greetings all. I came into a small collection of coins and I noticed something strange on this coin. On the reverse it looks like the bottom of the E in independence is missing or is smeared. On the obverse it looks like some distortion in the 1776. Some dents and the top of the 7 has an extra piece hanging down. Is this a mint error? Maybe just normal wear? Many thanks for any info. Report this Post to the Staff

Either way there is no premium for this. Possible die crack on the '7'. Again not a premium for the coin. Report this Post to the Staff

There might have been a small amount of grease in the die when this coin was struck and so part of that letter E didn't strike up fully.
