*** Edited by Staff to Add Year / Mintmark to Title. It's very important to have in the title. ***Seems to have original toning,no dents and nice fields.I would like to have a little more meat on the feathers but higher grades get expensive fast.As much money as I have spent on this series at some point gets ridiculous.I could upgrade this coin in the future but for now the desire to complete or fill as many missing coins as possible is kind of addictive.

Quote: I could upgrade this coin in the future but for now the desire to complete or fill as many missing coins as possible is kind of addictive. I used to do the same thing, then I did the math on replacing/upgrading a coin 3 times... I either kept the one I replaced, or sold it at a loss. Now my method is "buy the best coin you can afford and don't look back". Even if it means not buying anything & saving my monthly budget for several months to get a keeper.

I prefer doing it this way as well. Get a nice lower grade at a good enough price I can at least make it back later and then upgrade when my wallet is fat. And if I cant, I still have a nice lower grade example.
And this one is very nice!

The seller sent me an offer and I countered it $60 dollars less and he accepted. So I'm a victim of circumstance.Ha!Ha!But I'm glad to have it anyway. And another hole filled.

If you're interested, looks like a VAM-4. Nice coin! Thanks for sharing.

I too am a "Morganite"! That's a nice hole filler! I totally understand your conundrum. I still have a couple that need replaced but, the originals belonged to my Mom's collection and it's difficult to replace. I have all of the dates but, not quite all of the specific Mints. Morgans have such great history attached to them and were a well made, circulating coin. I think that you're making the right choice for your collection. I enjoy doing upgrades and see nothing wrong with acquiring the lower grades for hole fillers - for now. It's my understanding that VAM's are no longer in vogue for collectors. hmmmm I always thought they were interesting to find! Good luck with your Morgan collection. You'll never be sorry for focusing your time and money on them!

I'm getting ready to do the same on a 93-s to complete my Morgan's. I'll buy a G-6 for now and someday upgrade to a VF I hope.

Nice PROTIP: I will mention that if you actually get anxiety from holes, you might just want to use 2x2s and a 3 ring binder with archival pages like this https://www.wizardcoinsupply.com/su...ket-2x2.html I started that as a kid unable to obviously afford to fill all the high dollar coins at that point in my life. it seems that a high percentage of 20th century US coin collectors are less likely to buy a hole filler, which seems to correlate with the relative ease that many coins can be easily found via the internet and just having enough money However, those who collect pre 20th century US, world, tokens, and medals seem to be more willing to use a hole filler due to lack of availability and cost constraints; so it does seem that what a collector choses to collect may influence the decision to some degree about using hole fillers.

I'm fighting to fill a few holes in my 7070 and 7181 albums, but I'm only looking for coins that are in as great a condition as I can afford and I do take my time and researching the coins I'm looking for first.

A nice looking example for a "hole filler", congrats on the accomplishment! Quote: Now my method is "buy the best coin you can afford and don't look back". Even if it means not buying anything & saving my monthly budget for several months to get a keeper. That's sort of been my philosophy for the past 10 years or so. I just have difficulty with the "not buying anything for several months" part...
