Not seeing any DDD, but the devices on both sides are very soft.. Does this coin still show the original mint luster? I'm thinking a quick bath in mild or watered down acid.

@Dearborn

Yeah, it still has the original mint luster. Weighs in at 5.5 grams, edge looks fine all the way around.

From the look of some of the edges of the devices, maybe lightly polished/buffed.

Guys I let you decide. I put the original and OP photo. Seem was plated or a reproduction. Not really same design. Up to you to decide.

Seems altered after strike. Maybe fine grain sand blast or rock tumbler. Thanks, Doug.

Well it is not plated - I can see the copper core on the edge. The design is the same - just VERY washed out.

What is the weight of this coin?

well it is a little light., so I might have to reverse my thought earlier and go with light acid treatment or sandblasting.

For me this it is a novelty. No design details, letters thinkers and smaller, and go on. Funy to know this coin.

My first guess would be Die Deterioration where things generally look bloated, enlarged, blurry, twisted, and damaged. PCGS article written by Ken Potter mentioned similar: the coins exhibit doubling, thickening, twisting and other deformities which are the result of Die Deterioration and found on 1999 coins.

Not sure about the lightness of color, Its not an experimental planchet since its not sacagawea golden or greenish https://www.error-ref.com/sate_quar...ental_alloy/ and https://mikebyers.com/exp25cset.html
