Hello Coin Community, I have for your perusal A 1968 S Lincoln Cent which is a DDO-002 as called by Copper Coins website. Unfortunately the coin has some problems. One is Die Deterioration, and it is heavily dished on the obverse, making it tough to see the motto! Also it is showing wear on the entire coin making ID of the markers not easy. But always the optimist I thought give it a shot! Anyway look at the pics, and let me know your thoughts and regards.

sorry, I don't see a DDO here, and I have a very hard time navigating Copper Coins site to find the attributions.

I do not see your coin as a DDO-002 or a DDO at all.https://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln...ie_state=mds

DDO-002 is variety vista nomenclature, coppercoins would call that 1DO-002. This does not look like 1DO-002, nor do I see evidence of any other doubled die.

I appreciate your responses! The coin is worn and I took a chance. Again regards all.

002 has a very noticeable separation on the motto, not seeing it here. And as far as the Die Deterioration, 68 was the last year of the old master dies. The difference between 68 and 69 is like night and day.

Well that explains a whole bunch. Now you see why I ask for links. (at my age, and brain injury (TBI) I took years ago, any help I can get to learn and help others, really helps me out)
So now I need to remember 3 designations... sheesh.. time for pen and paper...

Dearborn, sorry to hear about your TBI! At 82 I had a stroke. Left side doesn't work well. Regards ( darn DDO's)

Not even a 1968S-1DO-002. (Which is not a real doubled die, but an issue with doubled master hub issue. There are many of these from different dies)They are common to find that year.

Note all three mints were affected.
1968-P,D,S 1¢ WWHO-001 Doubled Working Hub
Description: A very slight CW spread shows on the LIBE of LIBERTY. A spread towards the rim shows on IGWT.

Yours is not even that one, but a normal one for that year. Just a normal cent for that year from all the mints.
