Ok so PCGS only made 2023 Silver Label Silver Eagle slabs. I went and got one.
It came back as "1 of 2023" In days long gone past, they used to be serialized 1, then 2, then 3 of 2023 and so on.
I wanted to see if I got a 'serialized' one or was it something like they do these days (like EVERYBODY get a 'participation trophy' instead of just the winners)
I reasonably certain that ALL of these will state 1 of 2023.
The only saving grace is that there are ONLY 2023 with the silver label. I looked it up in PCGS and saw that ther eis also a 1 of 2023 GOLD label too.
So more research brought me to a HUGE list of 'Special Labels' to be had.
If ANYBODY think that they have a 'Complete' set of Eagles, they are sorely mistaken.
The next collection is to chase down every special label? Not for me - check out this HUGE list:
https://www.PCGS.com/pop/detail/sil...70&ccid=2950
here is a small (tiny) portion of the list:

Did anybody else buy one of these?
But anyway, here is my 1 of 2023 variety (yes, PCGS calls it a variety )

Are you going to grab one of the gold labels too? They are also limited to 2023...

Very nice Seems familiar... http://goccf.com/t/401393&whichpage=18#3845005

Seems that only some people like to collect these, and even less adding to that the different label variations. Silver Eagles, 1986-Date, Mint State, Specimen, & Proof (Including Varieties & Special Pedigrees https://www.ngccoin.com/registry/co...-coins/3785/

No worries, collect as you like I say. For older video games I collected variety labels sometimes, even going all the way back on the atari 2600 when I was a kid, yet in many cases the actual game inside was the same. And then some also collected hardware, box and even instruction manual variations as well! https://atariage.com/system_labels.php

For songs I liked to have different variations like live events or different mixes as they sounded different. So I dont see why coins should be any different except that all collections have to draw the line somewhere based on money, time, and goals.

PCGS is getting to be like those baseball card companies.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Hello John,

I commented earlier about the " First Strike Label, and the Advanced Release " label Slabbed ASE's you and Another member posted pictures of, on Another of Your Posts.

Now I happen upon This, Another " Special Label " , No doubt the Latest in the " Special Labels Productions Series "... I saw you had " mentioned About " if you think you have Every ASE, Think Again, " or something akin.

Allow Me, There are Numerous, Very experienced ASE collectors Aboard the CCF Vessel, Some collect EVERY SINGLE ASE, Regardless of the Scarcity, Regardless how many Millions of the " Bullion " coins were minted, People collect what they will, and they, and YOU, Collect, as shown above, Labels Too.....

I personally Collect the American Silver / Gold Eagles Series in, the Proof, Uncirculated, Reverse Proofs, Enhanced Reverse Proofs, Enhanced Uncirculated, Etc. Mint Marked Versions, Repeat, Mint Marked Coins Only, That completes that Set...

While I too collected the Bullion coins from 1986- 2003, Forgot about that DANSCO Album..... I do NOT collect Labels..... I have Hundereds of Slabs, Just wanted the Sweet Residents inside....

I am sure your comment about the If you think you collected Every ASE, was directed at a Few, Just Not My Direction to chase down a Label, Maybe the Collectors of Today , Whom I sense Gave birth to and are in Love with " Labels ", They Too are Thrilled with Labels, Simply Just Not for Me, Best Wishes to All who Collect, collecting what You All Please, Enjoy the Hunts..... Mike.

Mike and Dearborn and others, some labels will have chasers/demand driving up prices when there is a limited supply, while others not so much. For example with the pandemic, some minting took place at Philadelphia and San Francisco in relatively small quantities for the bullion coins which could only be identified from the monster box then the grading company put it on the label only and so not on the coin. Emergency silver eagles have small mintage numbers and have thus sold for huge sums of money. They're possibly highly collectible, and they might go up in value in the years ahead if more coin collectors decide to pursue these coins. So that is just one example where demand might outstrip supply. Some really like the show only labels or other similar low mintage versions, but others just make no sense to the average collector. Then you have those 3rd party mint enhanced coins, some are quite nice but not done by the US Mint. So we have to decide what to collect and then can expand if desired or stick to it.

It seems many now use Black Ruthenium as its far less expensive and quite nice look to them for collectors looking for something different while having low mintages as another benefit in some cases, Here are some american silver eagle examples and others include more eagles. As some dont even like colorized coins I can understand there will always be a divide amongst collectors which can be seen in those registry sets as well.

Agree. If one were to pursue every special label for each year of release, his/her collection of bullion ASEs would approach (surpass?) 1,000 coins! That's not something I'm interested in, but to each his/her own!

Those are just different labels, not different Eagles, so you don't need them for a 'Complete' set.

Those that think they need them are buying the label, not the coin.

I 'may' go after that 1 of 2023 Gold label and keep them together for a few years, then sell them off as a 'matched pair'.

And THAT is the crux of my question and curiosity.

every one will state 1 of bla, bla, bla instead of 2 of and 3 of.

A long time ago, I bought a Star Trek large laser disk that had a 'limited edition of 5000 (Mine is inscribed as "1025 of 5000" (or something close to that number Can't remember at the moment, and can't go look, as I'm at work, wasting time on CCF )

Right, it is just like chasing every single Eagle in OGP ever released. Like Gilly has and is doing. That would be the same - 'buying the package' and not the coin.
