The problem is that they are all mixed together and as I said it will be a major project sorting them out. It's too soon after my eye surgery to do any bending over or lifting so right now I can't do anything. If I eventually sell them it will not be individually on ebay. I may consider selling them to an online vendor like APMEX in groups of twenty or thirty coins.

Hello, Mike. When I started collecting silver was a little over $17 an ounce. BUs were selling for around $25 and proofs around $50 or $55. I'm not happy about what's happening today especially with the Silver Eagles. They were always my number one coins and I planned on continuing to collect them.

I'm having second thoughts about my comment on the use of silver in the EV and solar industries. China produces most of these components and they have their own supply of silver. The majority of silver in the US is in private hands and I've read that JP Morgan Chase has the largest stockpile in the country. The US Mint buys silver planchets from a third party like Sunshine Mint. Then, the mint sells silver to us in coin form. So, who is jacking up the price of silver?

My intent from the beginning was to leave my coins to my three children and that has not changed. I might have a solution for your situation I know you wanted to pass complete sets to your children and that you primarily collect ASEs Why not just set aside a Type 1 Collection for each of them, then, at some point, sell your extra Type 2s to continue your master set of ASEs? If any of your kids want to expand their collection, finding the Type 2s in the future could be fun for them Just based on inflation, $200 for a common Type 2 ASE in 10-20 years will not feel unreasonable at that time.

While I do have by far more ASEs than any other coins I've also been collecting silver coins from five other countries. I collect the Libertad, Maple Leaf, Britannia, Swan and Krugerrand. I also collect several Canadian and Australian animal series. I will decide whether or not to continue to collect these coins when I see what they will be selling for. I have several hundred ASEs in BU, certified and proof. If I stop buying them now I'm okay with that. I just can't accept the fact that the mint is charging $80 above the cost of silver to produce an ASE proof. As far as my children go none of them are interested in continuing to collect coins. They will not be adding anything to what they inherit.

Tells me the Chinese desperately want to get their hands on physical silver. Also, of the 20 mines in the world that produce silver most of them are located in the Americas. The mines nearest to China are in Kazakhstan.

China has silver...
"Mexico is the world's leading silver producer, outputting 6,300 metric tons in 2024, followed by China (3,300 tons) and Peru (3,100 tons), which together account for over half of global production."

Hello My Fellow coin collecting enthusist, I too have a " tad " more ASE's, Buying extras sometimes a Dozen extras depending upon the year at the Time, What became known as the Type 1 ASE Since the Type 2 design was released in mid 2021, I Celebrated buying a Dozen Extra Uncirculated Versions, My Favorite. I Could Almost put Another set together, Wish I bought More Sooner Too. Collecting from other mints Too is Sweet, I see you've collected from a Few Too. The Australian mint releases some Unique Historical Coins too. My suggestion to any one thinking of selling any Silver coins, Do Not Sell Now, Do Not !!! Silver is on a Stand Alone, Long Over-Due Mission. Hold On.

Good evening, Mike. I also got a little carried away in 2021. I had not been collecting for very long but I realized it was kind of a big deal having the original design and the new design released in the same year. I managed to accumulate quite a few.
Type One BU - 18 Certified - 24 Proof - 9
Type Two BU - 9 Burnished - 3 Certified - 39 Proof - 6
Back then I was buying MS-69 and MS-70 but now I only buy MS-70. I've been talking about maybe selling some of my extra silver coins but so far it's just been talk.
