Here is an interesting one! This 1866 Indian Head cent was struck through a struck fragment, producing a mirror image of part of the obverse on the reverse. You can see parts of the letters "AMER" and some feathertips in the area affected. Ive never seen another one like it in the Indian Head series. Its in a great Mint State condition, and is a S-3 RPD.

Very cool! I've never seen one like that either. What did it pull, MS-64?

Surprisingly, wasn't hugely pricey, and it could be the grade of MS62RB. Was priced around MS63RB money.
I have a feeling the seller was underpriced though, and I personally can't see why it graded MS62. Maybe the obverse where there appears to be a lamination in the left field?

Very unique. I'm assuming the struck-through area is incuse? My eyes can only see it as raised but then my head explodes trying to figure out what happened.

I'm also seeing it as raised, but that must be an optical illusion. Remarkable how sharp the lettering is in the struck through area—almost like it was a fragment of die rather than a struck coin (although then it wouldn't be mirror image). Great coin!

It is definitely incuse. It looks raised, and that is an illusion in the picture.
NGC label reads: Struck through struck fragment.
My guess as to how it happened is a delamination on a previously struck coin made it in with the next planchet, causing the mirror image of the fragment to get pressed into this coin, giving you what is seen here.
