@gyp, it sounds like you are asking whether the last digit on the date is a three over a four. I'm not sure how that could happen at the mint as it would require a die to be prepared for a future year and then revised to an earlier one. Doesn't that happen the other way around?

I can sort of see what looks like parts of a 4 merged with the 3 in your second photo but I am sure it is just the way the corrosion and lighting are rendering in the image
