I got this penny when I made an online purchase. The seller sent me some mint coins still in the cellophane. Upon looking at the coins I notices this penny with something on the rim to the left of the head. Because it's an uncirculated mint coin I'm assuming this is a mint error but not sure. Any thoughts?

Occasionally, edges of coins placed into packaging receive a 'glancing' blow from the machine used to seal the packaging.

To CCF! I agree with ijn1944. It's damage, PMD.

Yes exactly damage that occurred after striking but before the coin left the mint.

Since this LMC was damaged during the packing process at the mint does that not take the coin out of PMD? Technically it was damaged at the mint. I ask this because technically finding another 1969 LMC with this damage has a rarity as would a DD; therefore, it would present a higher value. Just tossing a thought out there.

Technically - yes.

So let's go with the more accurate Post Strike Damage ( PSD). It occurred at the mint but is still a damaged coin IMO.

It's my understanding PMD is any damage that occurs after the coin leaves the striking chamber.

The thought was intended for dialog. Because through dialog we open things up and learn more.

So here is a thought. Let us not speak to speak down to another, but yet speak to educate another. That is what this forum, IMHO, is meant for. Sharing

I consider post mint damage as meaning after the coin was minted, so once it leaves the dies anything is post mint. Post strike damage is actually a better term in my opinion.
