Long time coin collector. Looking to stack rounds such as ASEs and maples and similars Question is: Where is the best place to buy? To further this, places like APMEX and other dealers are around $32 or more per coin. ebay bullion sells for less from other reputable companies utilizing ebay. $280 for 10 ASE and similar. Even some of the big companies sell for less on ebay than their own websites. Why is this? They are paying ebay fees on top and offering free shipping yet it's cheaper to buy from many places off ebay than their own websites. Who are the best when it comes to price and quality and reputation? Thanks. I tried to search a bit but have been working crazy hours and sometimes difficult to search while dispatching calls. Thanks all!!

I am not a big stacker, but I watch SDBullion, and Walmart, of all places. It seems folks like APMEX and SD occasionally sell through Walmart for better deals and I bought a couple of lots there in the past for a good price. It takes monitoring over time, though, to catch them.

If the objective is to pay the lowest premium over spot for silver, the ASE's, Maples, Etc.. are a poor choice. They carry the highest premiums of all the silver options. 100 ounce bars are pricy but carry the lowest premium. I prefer 10 ounce bars since they are affordable and carry the second lowest premiums compared to all other forms. With silver spot currently at $22.60, and a 10 ounce bar in the $253.00 range that is only a $27 premium or $2.70 per ounce over spot. Compare that to a silver eagle 1 ounce coin at $33. and change for a premium of $10 each over spot.

Quote: Compare that to a silver eagle 1 ounce coin at $33. Don't generally disagree Mr. T, but it is a fluid situation and premiums are dropping currently. 2023 ASEs are going for $539 for 20 paid by echeck at Bullion Exchanges right now or $26.95 an oz with spot at $22.80 tonight. At Walmart you can buy a lot of 10 at $283.90 using your credit card - and these are actually coming from APMEX, but at APMEX the same lot of 10 is $334.90 by echeck, and $348.90 by CC. SDBullion is a bit cheaper than APMEX right now, but not by much. It pays to shop around. Generic rounds and bars will, and should, always be a lower premium, though.

Yes, sometimes ebay prices are cheaper than dealers own online sites. ebay probably gives them a discount for being high volume sellers. APMEX sells on Walmart, same thing, sometimes their prices on Walmart are cheaper than their web site. Good to shop around online for best deals but obviously avoid fakes. On ebay I like Liberty Coin, Bullion Exchanges. I also like SD Bullion. Many dealers have specials and weekly sales.

I would stay away from ebay unless it's a reputable dealer's page. Too many fakes. My favorite choices are coin shows if you can make those and then the LCS. I haven't bought bullion online in a long, long time.

In my opinion 10 ounce silver bars are the most efficient way to accumulate silver bullion The transaction amount for 10 ounce bars is in the 'goldilocks zone'. Same applies for storage / stacking / security. APMEX or other leading bullion dealer is probably the best buy / sell option for 10 ounce Ag bars. Most efficiently bought / sold in person in cash, (fewer fees).

I would suggest Monument Metals and Silver Gold Bull. Reputable, generally good prices and great customer service. Also check their deals and sales pages.

Money Metals Exchange JM Bullion SD BullionLiberty Coin ( ebay) APMEXare my first top 5. Many others are very reputable but you need to take care to evaluate the seller and not just the price. When you get into generic rounds then the list expands even further. Sometimes people buy collectible rounds with low mintage and interesting designs when they are close in price with thought that some may also increase over time due to demand for the interesting design or character on the coin over its low supply separate from the silver values. This requires that you are comfortable selling like on ebay and also that you have some ability to guess what is going to be popular vs a dud or you should stay away from those since reselling only back to dealers will get you more of the silver value typically.
