Here are some other ways that are less frequently mentioned. If at first you don't succeed...try, try, again

I hear you definitely but there is so much odd doubling going on I'm confused almost like a small date punch and then a large date repunch. That would have to be intentional I guess after changing dye . But that's a chance in you know where. Do, what is it doing?

The most commonlty asked question on the forum for forty-one consectuive years.
You'd think that common sense would dictate a quick go with the Search box, but no.

Datadragon.. Thanks for the reference you posted. It's one of the best I've seen describing the difference between the small and large date 82.

Thanks all I hear you old buddy, sometimes the scratch doesn't satisfy the itch (with photos) However you can't go wrong with a curved 2 in the date as opposed to a straight two in the date. That immediately tells me which one it is.. Heck keep asking someone on the forum will always help. If there were no questions on the forum then the forum would die. LOL Words of wisdom "everything is easy once someone shows you what to do although it may take two or three showings!" I have to laugh because I was where you are at now and it wasn't long ago. I like to think I am a little farther up the road

I can't see any doubling. Appears to be a normal large date.

It's a normal large date. Forget about the doubling, there are several types of doubling that happen during the minting of coins, Mechanical Doubling and Die Deterioration Doubling probably being the most common and they really mean nothing.
