Bought this today along with a carbon spotted 1923 Peace dollar and a 64 d Kennedy half... The coin has clearly been dipped or lightly cleaned because it is much whiter in hand... Again... It is uncommon for me to find better dates in Rome...the rim issue on the obverse is not a piece of metal kissing but a spot.

i agree AU50. glare is tough to assess surfaces. the right obv field makes the coin appear to be dipped so a high chance of details. this is one to assess the surface in hand and go with your gut on the dip

The example has some distracting issues: the scratch on cheek, dent in chin and spot on wing. With the cleaning/dip the coin would most likely grade details.

Thank you all. I am comfortable with the coin since I have limits on what I pay for a Morgan (generally regardless of condition). I was thinking XF - AU cleaned/details. The scratch is distracting, I agree.
Finding unpolished/undipped coins in Rome is a challenge.

Agree with AU-50 as well. The nine digit has some damage and looks odd because of it. Regardless she is far from home and you have to wonder how she ended up in Rome.

@cointagous, I find a surprising number of Morgans and Peace dollar in Rome. I wonder that about each u.s. silver dollar I find here.
