I can't show pictures because I don't have a working camera right now. Last week, I searched two boxes. I found one 1943 D wartime nickel and three cull Buffalo nickels. I acid dated the Buffalo nickels. They were 1923 S, 1917, and 1914 D. The Red Book says that 1914 D Buffalo nickels are worth $90 in AG condition. How much would it be worth acid dated?

I wouldn't hazard a guess without seeing what it looks like.

A couple of bucks.
All depends on what it looks like and how well the date restoration was done.
The ones that have had a full coin restoration, instead of just the date area, seem to do better when selling online.
The restored coins that seem to do better at auction are the 16/16 doubled die and the 18/17 over date

It restored very well. The date is as clear as day.

I agree, probably only a few dollars at most.

I've tried to sell acid dated 1914-D's. Not much interest at all. Was a lost cause.

Thanks for the insight Raymo. I wasn't planning to sell it anyhow since it is a good holefiller.

I'm taking a brake from CRH today. So, I finally got around and Nic-A-Dated my Buffaloes. Just for giggles the results were pretty good and it was fun to see these coins restored though still impaired. The results were as follows: 1914 P x 2;1916 P x6; 1916 D; 1916 S x2; 1924 P ; 1915 D and 1913 D Type II. #128527;

It's worth more than a dateless nickel, so you have that going. But it will be hard to move because the acid damaged the coin while it revealed the date, and collectors struggle to get over the "acid was poured on the coin". If someone shows up for $15-20, take it an run because they can be bought on ebay for under $10.

Looking at Jack Beymer's price list acid dates sell for about 60% of a Fr-2. The few that show on the list are for the scarcer dates, where a Fine sells for $100-200.

Beymer's prices always seem high to me.
