EF-40. Maybe higher, it looks like a nice coin.

Is that amount of doubling typical on SLQs?

Don't know SLQs well enough to comment but it is significant on Reverse. Obverse has an incomplete rim by date and missing denticles by head that are not PMD. I'm going to assume late stage die.

I'll just fess up now - she straight-graded XF45.

Did you have PCGS conserve it?
What did it end up costing you, all in?

No, Slider and a few others convinced me it was risky with little added benefit. So just my conservation work - happy it straight-graded.

Cost was $37 with coupon - just grading.

But I'll guess if PCGS did the conservation work they would base the 3% conservation fee on the "PCGS Price GuideSM Value" ($875) that they list on the cert.

Well, you did a great job on the restoration. It's hard to believe that was a metal detecting find. Well done on both counts, and congrats on a nice grade from PCGS! =)

Sounds like a good deal and it is a nice-looking coin. What about shipping to and from and insurance?

Brandmeister - here is original thread on this coin.

Ultimately, I'm just thrilled to know that the right dirt find can straight grade - at least for silvers.

I have this copper http://goccf.com/t/452896 in the queue currently. If this details then I doubt any copper dirt find would ever straight grade.
