https://www.ebay.com/itm/386274805177I just reported these (9 available!) and two other listings by this seller, 1922 Peace $1 (>10 available) and 1888 $1 (4 available). I received a reply from ebay! Quote:We're looking into it Hello kbbpll, Thanks for reporting the content you found to be problematic on our site. We're looking into it now. We'll let you know once we've reviewed it and provide you with details of any decision that we make. We wanted to let you know that when ebay makes a decision based on your report, the user who provided the content may have a right to appeal. If they successfully appeal, we may be legally required to reverse our decision and any resulting actions. Thanks, eBay I've never received a response for reporting an item before, let alone a reference ID. Is somebody finally making them do something about this garbage?

Not much to "look into" since the seller admits they are fake, but I imagine there's nobody minding the store on Saturday night. I'm mostly curious if anyone has gotten this response before. I haven't reported anything for a few weeks/months.

Same reply I've gotten lately after reporting an item.

kbbpll - I reported an item yesterday (an obviously raw coin described as MS69 with a TPG reference that belonged to another coin) and I had a response exactly like yours. Again, it's the first time I've ever had a reply from ebay after reporting something.

Saying one this and actually do it is another. While impossible to rid the site of counterfeits altogether, based on the volume of complaints/reports filed over the years there should be a decrease. However, the oposite is true. So I'm not holding my breath there. Instead I consider any response an appeasement so you'll keep spending.

So it appears that this is a new thing with ebay. The question is whether they actually follow up with "We'll let you know once we've reviewed it and provide you with details of any decision that we make", or if it's just appeasement. Since Jack got involved with an inside channel, this one perhaps wasn't a fair experiment. Next time I'll do it quietly and see if a regular Joe gets a result. The seller responded with "Reported?HAHAHA I didn't know this was the case obviously or I would not have listed them. I looked at the sold section and many have sold as copies so I figured it was ok." So, I guess this is the "everybody else does it" excuse.

That's OK, it seems like they should respond anyway, since I have a reference ID and everything. :)

With the "Report this item" link on the item. Category "Copyright and trademark", reason "Counterfeit item", detailed reason "Counterfeit, fake, or replica items", then a short comment explaining why.

So my 88-cc isn't a rare and valuable coin? I keep one for a pocket piece for fun.
