Good evening,
I'm back on the forum after a long hiatus
I have just bought this 1814 cent. It is not in my hand right now, all I have are seller's pictures.
Weight: 10,67 grams
My guess is Vf-35. What do you think?
Also, the coin seems to have "a double chin". Is it a known variety?
Thank you for all your opinions.

This example on PCGS has the same die crack and gunk under the chin https://images.pcgs.com/CoinFacts/8...321_2200.jpg
Seems like duplicating that on a counterfeit would be difficult, but you never know. I'll leave grading to others.

The example appears to be a plain 4 S295. There is a bearded variety on the plain 4, but the beard on this one is a little more pronounced. The coin is in the latter stages of Die Deterioration. The coin appears genuine.

S-295 Plain 4

Late die state. Sometimes called "Bearded Liberty"

VF30-VF35 sharpness; the color is not natural and the surfaces do not look original to the coin - smoothed? The bust looks "flat."
Some light porosity left of the point of the bust and left of S8.

I'll say VF-EF. Color is questionable.

doesn't look like a cast. the markers are there for a 295.

i'll go with XF40 and if thats the real color in hand then I have to go with altered surfaces/questionable color. you just don't see this overall consistent grayish color on an LC. the biggest marker for recolored imo is at K5 obv as well as K1-K2 where it appears that whatever was used is chipping off. this is not a 295 marker

Good evening.
I have just got the coin.
As I promised, I am posting new pictures I took a few minutes ago. Daylight has gone here, I did my best.
Coin is brown, as you can see. Previous pictures were shot with too much artificial light, I guess.
What do you think? Any opinion is very appreciated. Thank you!

definitely better view of the actual color. I'm on the fence with re-colored however paralyse may be correct on this one. one thing for certain I can see is that those little round circles especially reverse don't belong there so something happened to the original surfaces.
