I understand, Spence. I started searching Lincolns in 2017, so we were well into the shields at that point. Because of that, I was seeing more shields than anything, where I bank roll search, so I gave in to the fact that that would be much of what I saw. I really do not like shields but it is what it is and learned what to look for. I have looked at so many, I can spot even the most minor doubled die. Most of the time, it's just distortion, not what you would see in a typical doubled die, the single squeeze doubled dies do not typically offer much more. All this being said, I found the best pic on the web of a normal 2023 P and put it with my pic, this may not help but maybe it will. The red arrows show the thickness and the yellow arrows show the thinness (the distortion). At first I didn't even look at them, I just shoved them to the box. But I gave in because there were just so many in a box. IMO Most shield DDO / DDR are minor. Usually the doubling is tiny, but sometimes you get big and bold separation. Also, you can usually score a couple every $20 or so. That's a lot more often than CPG-type varieties. (Personally, I'm glad you got into shields and graduated from those "nasty" Vams. ) It is most definitely a DDO. It is a tossup whether it would get listed but because there are so few for the year, I think it will. Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
