*** Edited by Staff to Add Year / Mintmark to Title. It's very important to have in the title. ***This coin was in a collection dispensed from a coin machine. When I tried to put it in a coin slot dryer, it wouldn't fit, which prompted me to take a close look. I have heard about error coins, but never owned one. If it is a great curiosity to numismatists, I'm all for finding it a new home. If it is of minor economic value, I'll just keep it as the oddity that it is. Any feedback is appreciated. I really wasn't sure where to turn for answers. As you can see from the photos, it seems to be stamped off center, and as mentioned, it's a little larger overall than a regular quarter. It looks like an off-center strike with a tilted or partial collar. Worth a small premium.Dip in 100% pure acetone and put in a staple type coin holder. John1

@win, first welcome to CCF. Second, that is a really fun find and worth keeping in a 2x2 as noted above.

Thanks for the generous welcome, gentlemen! Acetone I have plenty of. I work on fiberglass and wooden boats. Where do I look for coin sleeves?

Go to any coin store to get 2x2 or ask a coin friend, it only cost 1 or 2 cents. Try not to handle it with bare hands, your skin will leave oil on it forever.

A slightly uncentered planchet that was struck in a collar that wasn't fully deployed (a tilted partial collar error, to be precise).

I gather that a coin store is one of these places that says that they buy gold or coins? I always lumped them in with pawn shops.

Might be some specialty coin stores around that cater towards collectible & rare coins. Pawn shops can be good and bad. Your coin listed above is a 2 for., MAD & A Collar error. Cool.

A pawn shop and a coin store are two different places. Hobby Lobby might have the coin holders. ebay does for sure. John1
