My guess is that it's only worth one cent.

Not worth $5 - $10

Not a fool! just paying your tuition to the knowledge of numismatics. In this case it only cost you 1 cent. Merry Christmas my friend!

Agree with all above. I have a tube full of zinc core small date '82 D cents in low to mid MS grade. If only they were worth more than one cent...

The excitement you had thinking that it could have been the rare one is admired. It shows that you are a natural collector. We all share the same feeling when we open a roll of coins, check our change, search a variety of listings, attend coin shows ect... Sometimes I think I found something until I got home and looked a little closer, only to find out it was not what I thought it was. That is not foolish. It is called; The Hunt.

..as I stated on another one of your posts, study up on these errors. In other words, do your homework and then post any further questions here. I learned most of these things on this site the same way.

yes, a small date copper plated zinc cent from Denver.
No need to feel foolish, it takes time to learn all this stuff (and remember it).

Is it any more valuable if it weighs about 3.11 grams

Quote: Is it any more valuable if it weighs about 3.11 grams If it's 1982-D and it weighs 3.11, I can just about guarantee that it's a large date. Post a pic to confirm. On the OP topic, a few years ago I found all of the 1982 combos in change, except the 1982-D small date copper of course. It was fun but I sent them all back into circulation for the next person. None of these are worth anything unless they're in high MS grades, but it's fun to look for them.

Custodian: If it were a 1982-D small date that weighed 3.11 then yes it would be Ex. Rare. However without even weighing this coin it is very obvious, from the photos, that it is a zinc core planchet and it is not the rare version.
