Are the pits on the obverse the result of a strikethrough? I didn't see any pushed metal. I'm pretty sure the mark on the reverse is PMD, but if it isn't please let me know.
The spot on the REV corresponds to the damage on the OBV. This shows the coin was against something hard wen the impact on the OBV was made.
If this has been in the press at the time of the mark being made, then anything between the coin and the OBV die would have marked the front, but the back of the coin would have nothing on it b/c the coin was sitting on the REV die.
So if this was a BB gun, the person doing it was shooting at it while it was sitting on something hard.
And while I may be wrong, the impact marks do not look like the perfect circular impact mark a BB makes.
