I think this seller IS ripping people off! I turned him in to ebay but they don't do anything about it! What else can be done to stop him? Check him out. He's sold two regular quarters for some big money! https://www.ebay.com/itm/166406187704

This seller is for sure ripping people off And the description is definitely written by an AI or to say it another way, the seller didn't write the description of said coin.

Well, what can be done about it? I've turned him into ebay, but they didn't do anything! He's sold two regular circulated quarters so far! Just drives me crazy to let him continue!

"The certification for this quarter is uncertified, adding to its rarity and value. " Hahahahahahaha. Not worth getting worked up about. ebay will never do anything about sellers like this. It's a free-for-all and their bread and butter. If a buyer is dumb enough to pay $1100, plus $5.50 shipping!, or even make any offer, on a coin I have in my change jar, well that's on them too. I don't think the seller is violating any terms of service.

What should be done about it? The seller offered items for sale and the buyers purchased them. That's how ebay works. FWIW, I doubt either of those "sales" is real.

I can't imagine anyone paying what he is asking for it.

I just sent him a note letting him know that the price he wants is, shall we say, unusual. Will let you know if I hear back.

It's the marketplace--a tale as old as time--warts and all. As always--whether 1311 in Constantinople or 2023 In Iowa--buyer beware.

Wasn't someone speculating in a prior thread that the description is AI-generated? Quote:This 1999 State Quarter is a rare find for any coin collector. With a denomination of 25 cents, this circulated coin features a unique design from the State Quarters series. Produced in the United States, this coin is a must-have for any collection. The certification for this quarter is uncertified, adding to its rarity and value. Don't miss out on the chance to add this rare quarter to your collection.

What did you turn him in for? Do you want ebay to take your listings down if some random person says you're asking too much for it? I sure don't. I'd rather ebay stay out of my asking prices. What you're reporting him for is not realistic. People are allowed to ask however much they want for whatever they want as long as it doesn't break the rules. To add to that, anyone who pays those prices ripped themselves off, plain and simple. Buyers have responsibility too. And last, when you look at the closed listings, that is not necessarily the price that was paid. It still shows the BIN even if it was $1.25 that was accepted. Be careful what you wish for.

I'm with Bobby on this. If it's too expensive don't buy it. Your idea of value isn't another's. If some one is dumb enough to buy the quarter at the value requested that's on them.
