Are those ink stains on the reverse of this bill on either side of THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA from minting or did they end up there afterwards? I've also posted an image of the obverse for reference.

The black ink stains on the edges are from the note being marked while being inside an ATM machine. The edges are marked every 100 notes making them easier to count when stacked. And just for the record, coins are Minted, and paper money is Printed.

Well I figured the stains on the edges weren't printing errors. But I'm curious about those stains on either side of the lettering on the reverse of the bill. The ink looks the same color as the clouds in the image. Are they from a stamp that was added to the bill after it left the BPE?

Looks like bed dust. Possibly from the printing process but it's extremely minor. That coupled with the poor condition of the note, makes it a definite spender in my neck of the woods.

I've come to a conclusion that the stains to which I was referring are not from the printing process but from a bank's old bill flattener or counter or some type of machine that had ink on it for some reason. I also noticed, however, there are a couple of tiny spots on the obverse that look like excess ink from the plate used at the BEP. I'm not sure whether that would add much, if any, collector value to the bill.
