The following is a press release issued for print. It has been printed in at least Coin World, possibly others.

As the new president of the society, I would like to invite every Lincoln Cent collector here to consider membership in this growing club. As an enticement, if you send your address to me through email, I will send you the most recent " Lincoln Cent Quarterly," the official newsletter of the society, FREE of charge whatsoever just for the asking.

The release:

Dr. Sol Taylor, the 1982 founder of the Society of Lincoln Cent Collectors (SLCC) and its only president has announced he is stepping down as president after 27 consecutive years.

Charles D. Daughtrey, editor of the SLCC's Lincoln Cent Quarterlyfor the past five years, is taking over as president and continuing as editor.

The final issue of the Lincoln Cent Quarterly under Taylor's presidency was issued in April. The issue features mail-bid sale No. 141 - the last of the sales organized and conducted by Dr. Taylor.

SLCC Mail Bid Sales consist entirely of small cents, and have offered many desirable Lincoln cents since they began in 1982.

During his tenure, Taylor published The Standard Guide to the Lincoln Cent with the frist edition in 1982 and the fourth edition in 1999. A fifth edition is slated for release later in 2009, co-edited with Daughtrey.

Daughtrey is a noted Lincoln Cent variety specialist and professional artist/illustrator.

Taylor publishes a weekly column on coins and related subjects online at https://www.soltaylor.com.

Taylor holds life memberships in the SLCC, the American Numismatic Association, Token and Medal Society, Numismatic Literary Guild and Numismatic Association of Southern California, where he served as president in 1975.

Membership in SLCC is $15 a year and includes four issues of Lincoln Cent Quarterly and access to their four annual mail-bid sales. For an introductory offer of $25, new members are offered a two-year membership.

Membership requests should be sent to Charles D. Daughtrey, P.O. Box 627, Brookline, MO 65619.

Anyone who wants to check out the society and see what it's all about can do so for free. Send an email to me with your address and I will send you the most recent issue of the Lincoln Cent Quarterly, which includes:

1. Fake Cents Are Out There - A report on counterfeit Lincoln cents with photos.
2. 1995 Wide-AM Cent - Find out whether the reported piece was deemed real or fake; with pictures.
3. An email exchange between Dr. Taylor and a researcher on the possible existence of 1917 proof cents.
4. Little Known 1910 Design Change - The Lincoln Cent went through a significant facelift in its second year of issue. See images of this change.

All this plus a president's message, membership report, auction results, my regular column "Under the Scope" where I examine a little known 1943P cent DDO, and the last mail-bid sale Dr. Taylor is conducting.

Enclosed in the envelope with the LCQ will be an SLCC membership application. I would appreciate any recipients consider the worthiness of this club and consider joining. A strong club has a lot of active members, and I want to make sure this club stays strong for years to come.
