1857 FE FS 101, Snow 4 I have only dabbled in things other than Lincoln's but love a nice FS variety in any series. I sent a submission to ANACS back in early Jan and it's back already. (It was a mostly good submission.) Most were Lincolns but I came across this one which I think came from a lot I won of mixed Lincoln's, IHC, and a few FE cents in 2022 or 2023. Nothing was attributed in the lot I won. I was pleased to see the doubling appear under my loupe and was able to determine the attribution before sending it off. Other collectors may prefer their coins in a different slab, but I like how easy it is to see the coin label with the ANACS curved top. For those not familiar with this one, there is nice doubling on the eagles eye & the right side of the obv. @ ICA, top side of the tail feathers, the eagles claw. Please chime in with other markers (or link) to help ID for other collectors to be on the lookout for. As always, thanks for checking it out and hope you enjoy this one. (ps. I'll give it a day or two before I reveal the grade in case people want to give it a go.) Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups. We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.

Nice coin! ANACS is top notch and has great customer service. They are the go to for varieties if you want a third party attribution. Not a series I'm into, but your pics really show the doubling.

The 1857 Flying Eagle S-3, and S-4 DDO varieties are almost the same with the exception of the S-3 has the missing wingtip as the S-4 has the broken wingtip. They are both desirable varieties with the Snow-4 being more scarce than the Snow-3. A very nice pick-up! My guess as towards its grade is either VG-10 or F-12.

Thanks for taking a look everyone and adding info about the differences in the wing Finn70.
It's hard to know if the info we share, and others come across about collecting, will be the one that "sticks" and gets remembered. So thanks to all that take the time to add insight and comments. It all adds up.

Actually, I had my snow 3 and 4 varieties reversed. Looks like you have the missing wingtip S-4 variety. My apologies for my erroneous observation. I have both these varieties and they are a joy to look at!
