I have looked numerous times, and I cannot figure out what VAM this coin is... I I am fairly confident the mint mark has PMD at the bottom, but could it be a dye or crack? (I don't think the wreath above the mid Mark is doubled, but thought I should throw it out there to see)

As John said, nice pics! Yes, the mark at the bottom of the mint mark is just damage. What you need to pay attention to, is what's going on inside the mint mark. I have marked up your pic to show you. Go to the link I have provided, take your time matching the other attributes, along with what I have marked up and you should be able to find the VAM.

I think your coin may be VAM-9, VAM-17 or VAM-48. It looks to be a high-O repunched right. Unfortunately, VamWorld listings for the '84-O series lack adequate information that would help narrow these down.

I feel it is one of the three you gave the OP but was just leading them to search for themselves, because I think one of the markers is very obvious.

From what I see is VAM 48. Need to see close-up of reverse in area of trust.

@Onedollarbillnut

I was thinking Van-9 but the VAM 48 looks more in line... is this the winner?
