PRESS RELEASE

April 1, 2024

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO -- In a joint announcement released today from the headquarters of the American Numismatic Association ( ANA), representatives from the largest coin grading and authentication services announced plans to start offering grading and certification services for cryptocurrency later this year through a newly-founded company which is expected to be called the Cryptocurrency Certification and Collecting Partnership (CCCP.)

The announcement - signed by executives from the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), Professional Coin Grading Services (PCGS), Collectors Acceptance Corporation Grading (CACG), Independent Coin Grading (ICG), and the American Numismatic Association Grading Service (ANACS) - marks the first time that the major third-party coin grading services have agreed to work together to launch this exciting new addition to the hobby of coin collecting.

In another industry first, the new company (CCCP) will also be launching a new application for mobile devices (Crypto Go!) thanks to a new partnership with Niantic, developers of the smash hit mobile game Pokemon Go! Players of all ages who download the new application will be able to discover real-life points of interest by exploring while collecting various types of cryptocurrencies along the way and (after linking their digital wallets) earning cryptocurrency credits that can be traded with other players or exchanged for discounted grading and certification services.

After the announcement, a question-and-answer session was held by the noted coin dealer and investor Bob Loblaw, now a Vice President at CCCP. Invited members of the coin collecting community, major coin dealers, and representatives from the media were given the floor to ask Mr. Loblaw their questions about cryptocurrency grading and certification.

"Given the explosive growth of crypto and other non-traditional digital assets over the last ten years, CCCP is excited and pleased to be recognized as the first major company to offer grading and certification services for cryptocurrencies, filling a huge gap in the numismatic industry that's been highly in demand from collectors, investors and dealers." -- Bob Loblaw, VP Senior Corporate Unified Marketing (SCUM)

Here are some of the highlights that were previewed in an exclusive sneak preview of the new CCCP!

- Supported cryptocurrencies at launch will include Dogecoin (DOGE), Shiba Inu Coin (SHIB), Mog Coin (MOG), Baby Dogecoin (BABYDOGE), Etherium (ETH) and Bitcoin (BTC.) CCCP plans to add grading and authentication services for other digital assets at a future date.

- All supported cryptocurrencies will be housed in a brand-new plastic holder developed jointly with NASA. In addition to providing the standard grading and certification services, the new holders will feature NFC, RFID, holographic labels, high-definition photography, and other extensive anti-counterfeiting measures. The new holders are made of shatterproof transparent materials to prevent cracking or breaking and will be resistant to damage from radiation, moisture, smog, fire, poison, lightning strikes, and solar flares.

- In conjunction with the new holders, an all-new website is being developed that offers the features modern collectors and investors expect: a Registry Set Program, integration with major online auction sites and auction houses, certification verification, real-time pricing data, discussion forums, information and history on a given cryptocurrency's issues (with in-depth analysis of key date, semi-key date, and notable varieties), and a detailed scarcity and rarity analysis chart.

- Since most cryptocurrencies do not have a physical item to represent a digital asset, all holders will feature a bar-coded coin-shaped insert identifying the series, date, denomination, grade, and information about any issues with the coin (cleaning, damage, scratches, blockchain errors) as well as highlighting the key features of known varieties such the famous "3-legged" 2020 Dogecoin.

- Continuing a program that has been successful for the ANA, "Cryptocoins for A's" will allow Young Numismatists to receive CCCP-certified cryptocurrencies in exchange for turning in their qualifiying report cards with high marks.

- The ANA's Summer Seminars will offer two new seminars this year: "Grading Cryptocurrencies" will be presented by New York dealer and renowned collector Jimmy Hoffman, and "Cryptocurrencies as Investments" will be led by the team who helped Bernie Madoff build one of the most famous investment portfolios in history.

- The ANA's Young Numismatists program will feature a new offering this year: "Crypto Go! and Famous Mints" will give members access to the mints at Denver, San Francisco, Philadelphia, West Point, Carson City, Dahlonega, and Charlotte, where they will be able to use the new mobile app to find and collect hidden cryptocurrencies throughout the mints' campuses and unlock exclusive Double Super Secret rewards available only to ANA members.

- The release of an updated guide book for collectors (Purple Book) will provide a convenient and handy printed and digital reference for key cryptocurrency issues.

- Collectors, investors and dealers will be able to submit qualifying cryptocurrencies for grading and certification starting in June of 2024. There will be a tiered membership structure with different levels offering further amenities based on membership levels.

All questions regarding the CCCP, Crypto Go! and the other exciting new features and services can be directed to:

I'm REEAALLLLY starting to hate April 1st.

I always fall for these fake 'Press Releases'.

I'm telling my wife about this weirdness above and spend 10 minutes trying to pronounce the word 'Dogecoin' *I'm partially deaf and have catastrophic Tinnitus* and I can't figure out how to say it. She then points out that the story is fake news. I disagree right up to the moment that I remember that it's April 1st.

*FACE PALM*

I also fell for the NPR story on 4/1/? about a new device or computer app, that was in testing that would allow you to understand what your dog was saying when they barked. I was telling everyone that the translator would be available soon. You just attach a mic to the dog's collar and presto! you get an English translation of what 'Fido' is tell you. 'Go park' 'Outside' 'Food' and many more.

That's when my wife said 'You do know what day it is?' CRASH! I'm an idiot. I quit listening to NPR because of this. NPR has (or maybe now had) a history of these April fool's day stories. https://www.npr.org/2024/04/01/1241...-used-to-run

@paralyse Funny stuff, but please remember that people like ME exist out there that take everyone at their word and will repeat things like this as TRUTH... right up to the point that someone points out the date.

Every year...

I'm going to setup a lock on my PC so that I can't access to interweb on 4/1 from now on. I'm also going to try to learn the correct pronunciation of the word 'Doge'. I just can't seem to get it right. No matter how many times my wife says it and explains the sound of the word, I can't seem to say it correctly.
ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!

Well, at least that means I did a fairly convincing job of writing my fake press release!

I did add a disclaimer at the bottom of my original post now just in case.

There are quite a few other little jokes (names, CCCP/SCUM, the office locations...)

It does bring up a question: can you "grade" or "certify" something that doesn't physically exist?

Sweet, in the meanwhile you can use your ungraded Shiba Inu to robo grade pokemon cards...and this is real despite the date.

Now I'm waiting on the inevitability of the GGC (Grading Grading Company) that will grade the condition of TPG slabs.

"This PCGS OGH slab is in a new GGC holder with a grade of 8.5/10. GGC notes that the label is 20% faded and that there is a small chip on the left bottom edge as well as a slight milky discoloration spot and minor hairline scratches."

Imagine a set of Matryoshka dolls, but with TPG slabs.

Funny write-up, paralyse! But I've been inordinately skeptical of everything I read today, starting with the "article" announcing that Taylor Swift was releasing a cover of the Grateful Dead's 1970 album "Workingman's Dead".
But there are actually Bitcoins such as this one, that I often see on ebay and other auction sites:
