So, I have this 2013-P Roosevelt dime. I did check the forums here and for the most part, it compares to evidence of extreme heat, deliberate or otherwise. From the examples I saw, I couldnt find any that had the bubble on one side and an odd strike crater on the other, aligned. Now, I am definitely still leaning towards heat, but a couple things tripping me up. As mentioned before, on the obverse, between his eye and ear, something blunt and direct struck leaving a small crater. The bubble like anomoly on the reverse is dead center, and beginning on the outer edges of the central devices slightly inclining to a round "summit" like protrusion. There is a ton of damage on the reverse but the best description would be its almost like a bead of solder was dripped onto the surface and it spread slightly forming a very small peak like creation. Upon closer looks through digital microscope, the edge of the reverse also seems off. Not real sure what or why...you know.

When holding the coin, it appears the devices that appear to be severely worn away are relieved just about the correct thickness, so everything else thats not supposed to be there, rim and center, is laid over top of the devices struck relief.

My first thought when I saw it was maybe a severe die or hub failure while striking and as it circulated it just rubbed everything higher than the relief well before it should have, given the wear and damage appears to be oddly symmetric. If its heat damage, its a very well placed spot giving the opposite surface precise spread.

My final thought is that potentially the reverse was a major broad strike error coupled with a die/hub issue/failure and being as dimes are the most ignored and overlooked modern coins, it slipped notice until now. and I think its special, a canvas displaying a rare and strangely complimenting errors and circulation. If you'd like more pics of any areas and better resolution/ higher magnification let me know Ill get them uploaded

Dmil070182, you're over-analyzing this coin. When you hear hoofbeats, think horses - not zebras. This is only a damaged dime - not an incredible error that also happened to be thrown in a fire. It was damaged - probably by a grinder or from being on pavement - before getting roasted.

I do not think heat. Looks like maybe pressed with a screw or bolt type washer? Filed/ground down? PMD not an error.

Rev. has been sanded down by grinder or sand paper. Obv. just hit marks, you can see pushed metal from dent areas, even larger area left of ear. A damaged coin and only worth 10cents if someone will take it.
