So... you're wondering that even though it looks good, and sounds good, and weighs the right amount, you're suspicious of it because you got a good deal at auction? You succeeded in doing what every buyer hopes for (getting something at a great price), and that has you worried?
Did you buy it from/through a reputable auctioneer?

I'm no expert but it looks great. Hope it is genuine for your sake. I have also recently won a few pre-decimal coins at auction for well below catalogue prices. I'm satisfied that they are genuine so I thank my lucky stars for my good fortune. I have also previously won a lot that was not very well described. Turned out to be a real big win with some relatively valuable coins in it. So yes, it can happen that you score a very good coin at a very low price. Congratulations!

Exactly classic_coin. Pessimistic me. Put it here Sally G to confirm my hopes.

A very nice looking 1931 florin. Is it genuine ?
There's something I don't like about it. I could be wrong, but to me it looks too nice.
I keep going back and looking at the right scroll area underneath the emu's leg just left of the "S " of shillingS. The pointy part of the scroll looks to be thinner, that area appears to be incomplete compared to the scroll area on the right.
The King's inner crown design looks a little out of kilter and " untidy ". Others might like to comment further.

If its a fake its a good one.
Local dealer's point of reference on these Florins was the Kings eye-ball,on genuine Coins its well defined. Just a quick reference for him with a Loupe when sorting dozens of Coins

Nice looking coin just those round denticles from 5-6 oclock on the obverse are questionable to me. Slab it looks easily to be a mint state coin.

It's interesting and sad that when you find something good the immediate reaction is "it might be fake". Although a very nice coin it is one of the least valuable George V florins in high grades and not hard to track down. It looks 100% genuine to me.

It looks just right and whilst I have this one I also like to compare (just for fun of course) the portrait of King George to other coins from the empire like the 1928 45 piastres from Cyprus. Even places like Heritage auctions can give you a bargain. I once got a three medal platinum silver and bronze set for 8% off the melt value of just the platinum medal itself. The sets were very rare and should have even had a decent amount of value on top of melt but such things just happen. It was in an almost all coin auction and I guess no one wanted to buy it if it wasn't a completely slam dunk trade.... Such things do happen and that is one of the things I really enjoy about coin collecting. ... that even the little guy can sometimes, just sometimes, get a bargain. Nice find :)

Also it goes without saying, but I certainly did NOT properly understand this when I first started collecting, an ungraded coin even if it looks completely legit and is with a top auction house will very seldom trade at the same price as a graded slabbed one. The way you need to view it is that PCGS and NGC are basically also like insurance companies in that once the thing is slabbed they are on the hook for something like the value of the coin if it turns out to be a fake. That additional security beyond that of the auction house (HA for example will almost ALWAYS sell coins AS IS if they are not graded and prices even these will trade accordingly. And to be honest, for some rare coins I have seen NGC and PCGS punt on it all too often. I am not talking about coins like this florin but I have had two Japanese coins personally that came back as "authenticity unverifiable" which were just very rare coins that either PCGS or NGC wanted to punt on that I then had to get authenticated back in Japan
