Recently came across this damaged die 1980 Cent. Looks to me to be a dropped die damaged cent. The ridges of the damage are sharp and somewhat symmetrical. The coin is interesting in that the closer to the rim the more the damage fans out. Which is not consistent with what I am familiar with is a standard smooth and rounded die gouge. Is there another explanation for this damage I am missing? There is also a small rim Cud opposite the damage on the reverse. I thought it was worth sharing. Looks like each raised area lessens as it goes west. I would say a tripled die dent, where "it", what ever it was, bounced a few times.

Three closely-spaced die gouges, or a single wide die scrape produced by an object with a sharply-ridged surface.
