So it is a die error. Ok thank you.i have searched and searched and could not find another dime with this error so I did not know if it was due to someone intentionally defacing it or and actual die error.
I am so new to this and the amount of information out there is overwhelming.

First, welcome to this forum. Your coin is just what we call worn out die when struck. and features are not crisp. There are experts here to answer your questions so this is the best place to learn. Try to take pictures of obv. and rev. and one or two pictures of area in question, they may see something to help you.

Lmarie,
WADR, you still did not tell us what you are seeing as errors.
Your coin is not a mint error.

No. A worn out die is not a die error.

Your pictures show a coin that was struck long after a fresh die for minting dimes was put into the press. But as to what specific thing you see that brought you to us, we do not know unless you tell us. Coin dies wear out with usage so the coins they make are not as crisp in details. They bring no special value since collectors like crisp details.

The"M" not appearing to be the same as the rest of the letters in the word "Dime" was what made me even look at it closer. Then I saw that some of the letters were really off . Not sure how to word it and some letters were just not there in the "E•pluribus•unum".
The rim looked to be still intact so I wasn't sure how someone could take out the M without touching the rim.
Thank you for your responses. I truly appreciate your time.

VLDS=very late die state aka a worn-out die. Not an error.

Thank you all for educating me. I find myself looking at every coin I have now.
I am finding unusual stuff in pocket change. Just found a penny that looks like it has been melted. Makes me sit here and wonder what happened to these coins? Lol
Have a great weekend!!
