For 1478, I have a couple coins from the Low Countries, namely a Jager from Utrecht and a Double Briquet from Flanders:

Hopefully I've spaced these out sufficiently today, but here are my two coins from 1477 to bring me up to current. The first is a Spitzgroschen from Saxony while the second is another Double Briquet from Flanders:

1476 double briquet of the Duchy of Brabant (I think this is our 8th double briquet ... three more years years to catch up to the Pomerania type):

ttkoo you might want to double check this coin. GG doesn't list a half tanka during this time.
I think your coin is a falus of Ibrahim Shah dated 82x (GG# J8) that has been silvered. I have a couple with similar silver appearance that were listed as "half tanka" when I purchased them. I assume that the seller misidentified them because they appeared silver and were about half the weight of a tanka.

I'm leaning towards 824 as the date.

I am tending to agree with you at this stage about the date. The style of coin, especially the style of the word 'sultani', does lean towards a falus. The issue with this though, is that at 18mm and 9.5 grams, it is twice as heavy as the usual falus of that era and around 4mm larger. Almost like a falus struck on a tanka blank. I have opened it up on another forum and am hoping for some definitive explanations.

But back to the walk-back with dated coins

1475 / AH880 Jaunpur billon tanka

The year 1475 seems to have been a bumper crop year for dated European coins, at the very least from a survivorship standpoint. As evidence of this, there are eight of them for sale at ma-shops right now. I'll have to dig into my Levinson to see if there is a specific reason.

For now, here is a sibling to @tdz's coin for today:

@bd251
Further to the "half tanka".
I received this reply from @THC, a member of another forum.

" I would agree with your assertion. If this is supposed to be J08 it should weigh around 4.5 grams.
If it is double that it is either a double AE falus or a Billon tanka of 80 rati.
But both are not in Goron and Goenka catalog with this legend.
The silvering is clearly modern and I would consider it annoying, especially in this case.
However, looking at the side in your second photo, there clearly is "abu 'l-fath", and that seems reserved for the copper specimen. So I would consider this a silvered double falus."

I think what this really highlights is that I need to purchase a copy of the G&G catalogue, or I will continue to fly blind as I chase down these Indian Islamic coins.

edit: I managed to track down a new hardcover copy of the 2021 edition, USD75 + post + GST (which is not too bad considering the ridiculous prices being asked at some outlets). Delivery expected 21 December. It will make a fine Christmas read I'm sure.

Interesting to read your update @ttk.

Here is a Spitzgroschen from Saxony dated 1475. This was one of my first dated 15th Century coins.

Yes nice toning on that, which at least partially offsets those ugly scratches on the obv.

Here are a pair of 1475-dated coins from Cleve. The first is a Half Groschen (1.1 g and 21 mm) and the second is a Groschen (1.9 g and 24 mm).
