It looks like there is some gunk on your coin. Soak it in acetone and see if that goiter is removed.

Major fingerprint on obverse. Gunk also, acetone soak needed. The coin may have already been cleaned or it has folder toning. By the throat looks like a die clash to me. Nice photos by the way. John1

Was a part of a 10,000+ Wheat cent collection I purchased awhile back, lots of BU rolls. And 30+ complete folders mostly AU to UNC but yes most had fingerprints. Will acetone soak. I'm just not accustomed to seeing in person prominent die clashes. Usually very subtle outlines of details etc.

Congrats on getting that collection. Very nice images. It will be interesting to see the results of the acetone soak.
On my phone it's not looking like goop or gunk but I'm not sure how how a mm would have been struck so strongly in such an odd place

to CCF Shame about that fingerprint - but unfortunately - it is a permanent feature now most likely. - That is the reason I stay away from folders now - far too easy to touch a coin. But yes a good Acetone soak may help this coin some. Please post back after the bath.

That is an area of die clashes so, could be.

Yes, that is the area where clashes show up, but in this case, it would be the vertical part of the 'N', So I would expect the clash to be more straight and well defined.

Quote: I would expect the clash to be more straight and well defined You can see very strong concentric die scratches, which have made what is left of the clash, also circular in appearance because of the partial abrading.

Possible die clash. Let's see what develops with a good acetone soak. Not a stray mint mark.

I suppose that, that is possible.

Acetone will not remove that fingerprint but might help with the gunk. John1

To straight to be a clash. Just a hit like the spot to the left on the neck.
