I think there is some one that needs money. Today at the gas station I received more proof coins. 2 dimes 73s,74s and two quarters 73s,74s. Whats up with this? I hope who ever it is starts digging into the better stuff. The clerk is looking out for the coins now for me. I would post them, but every one has seen proofs. I think it is amazing some one would not try to sell them for a little of money they are worth. It would give them more than face value. So what would I classify these as, circulated Proofs?

COOL! I pulled an 84 Kennedy half out of a roll today. I'll be posting pics of my finds in a day or so when I am finished.

In the last two weeks I got two wheat cents in change. There is definately an increase in people spending their old cans of change going on. Opportunity abounds....

I got a 1956 Proof Dime in my change last year!

A few spots, but in as good a shape as a similar
Dime you'd see in a coin dealer inventory...

The "Great Coin Jar Cash-In" has given me five
Silver Dimes in my change this April! (I haven't
found that many in circulation since the early
1990's or before!)

I believe the official term is an "impaired proof".

Maybe someone doesn't know they are of value, or they might not know someone who would pay extra for them, or... they need money quick and can't deal with selling on line.
Rest in Peace

My guess would be a teenager who didn't know their worth stole some of grandpa's coins to buy gas / cigarettes.

Most of the modern proof sets are worth only a few dollars over face value and dealers usually have more than they need. I could see a collector becoming frustrated with their low value and just breaking out the coins to spend. I had a bunch of duplicate sets from the '70s and '80s and sold them to a dealer for maybe $4 each. I added cash to the proceeds and bought a St. Gaudens $20 gold piece which was a much better investment.
