PCGS - Early 1873 coins featured a "Closed 3" that looked more like an "8," later prompting the Mint to update the design. This 1873 Liberty Seated half dollar shows that closed 3. It's a common variety—but these colors? Anything but. As the only example in PCGS F12, it's a beauty.

Could the rainbow toning be artificial? Not really a fan of the toning.

Appears natural in all aspects. Not a huge fan but I would not shy away from owning.

Now if anyone has an opinion on the grade I'm all ears, way undergraded? That Reverse looks high VF all day long - the Obverse looks much better than the Photograde VF20.

Looks electrocuted.

I love toners and would give this one a good look over, although I don't consider the 1873 NA to be a common or inexpensive date. PCGS didn't detail for questionable color, but the plummish purple on Liberty's chest and the light blues on the reverse don't look like the toning colors I typically see. Your questions remind me to reach my own conclusions on toning originality, as TPGs, except perhaps CACG, are inconsistent and occasionally flat wrong.
